Our holidays are precious to us! To enable us to travel in the most climate-friendly way possible, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection funded the research project "Climate Protection on Medium-Haul Flights – Airplane- and Car-Free Travel in Europe." This resulted in a handbook to help you plan a climate-friendly holiday.
This travel guide shows how easily our most popular destinations can be reached by bus, train, and ferry. It includes 22 selected destinations, from Andalusia to Masuria and from Amalfi to Scotland, and helps with individual trip planning. The guide aims to inform and inspire: for each destination, it provides the fastest and least-required travel option, as well as recommendations for scenic routes with interesting stopovers and a high experiential factor.
The research project aims to demonstrate that climate-friendly travel also has advantages, for example, on journeys to Lapland, Scotland, or Andalusia. These trips cross the entire continent and therefore offer great potential for adventure. Thanks to flexible transport options and the ability to easily make stopovers, you can experience several countries and interesting places off the beaten track in one trip.
Get inspired! You can download the complete handbook "Traveling with a Climate Protection Factor – Climate-Friendly Travel on Medium-Distance Routes in Europe" with 22 destinations and approximately 60 travel options here free of charge.
