The Materiality analysis Sustainability management is a key tool for companies that want to systematically manage and report on their sustainability efforts. It helps to identify relevant topics, set priorities, and implement targeted measures.

Frequently asked questions about materiality analysis
Why is a materiality analysis important?
It helps you identify which ESG issues your company should truly address and creates the data foundation for goals, actions, and priorities. Furthermore, it prepares reporting according to CSRD or VS and helps identify risks and opportunities early on.
Which individuals should be involved in a materiality analysis?
Internally, in addition to management, representatives from purchasing, human resources, production, and sales should ideally be involved. The inclusion of external stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, or employees is also recommended.
How often should a materiality analysis be renewed?
We recommend an annual review to determine whether there have been any relevant changes to the business model that require adjustments.
Is a materiality analysis mandatory?
Within the framework of the CSRD/ESRS, a double materiality analysis is mandatory. Under the VS standard, it is voluntary, but can also be used in a simplified form to provide a basis for concepts, objectives, and measures.
What does "dual materiality" mean?
It considers two perspectives: how your company impacts the environment, social issues, and governance (impact materiality) and how sustainability issues can financially affect your company (financial materiality). Together, these constitute the material issues as defined by the CSRD/ESRS.
How long does it take to conduct a materiality analysis?
This depends on company size, complexity, and the extent of stakeholder involvement. A focused analysis can often be completed in a few weeks, while more extensive processes can take several months.
